I BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS LORD
Greetings, my name is Pastor Herbert A. Theodore, Jr. of the Promised Land
Missionary Baptist Church located in New Orleans, Louisiana. I greet you in and
with the divine love of our LORD and Savior JESUS CHRIST. My mission is to
extend salvation to all mankind.
The scripture teaches and thus I believe that there is one and only one true
GOD. HE is worthy of all possible, honor, confidence, and love. GOD is eternally
existing in the unity of the three persons of the GODHEAD, namely the FATHER,
the SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT, who are of the same substance, eternal and
coequal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in
the great work of redemption.
Man is saved by grace, GOD’S unmerited favor, through faith in JESUS CHRIST
and HIS blood. Therefore salvation is a gift from GOD and cannot be earned by
human efforts. A person must be “BORN AGAIN” by the SPIRIT of GOD. In this
new birth JESUS comes to live inside the new believer. Having experienced HIS
saving power in my own life my desire is to spread HIS good news.
ABOUT PROMISED LAND
In September of 2004, the LORD gave me a vision of the Promised Land
Missionary Baptist Church. We started with a few faithful members and by the
proclaiming and teaching of GOD’S word the ministry began to grow rapidly. I
served diligently as Pastor/teacher through two of the worst natural disasters
known to man, Hurricane Katrina, and Rita which separated families and friends,
and broke relationships that would otherwise not have been broken. The storms
blew, washed and scattered the majority of the membership away but the vision
remained in-tact with the remnant.
Today we strive on by faith believing that GOD will guide us in our rebuilding
efforts with not only an increase in membership, but a place that we may call
home. We are not without a roof over our heads but the place where we worship
is governed by a lease agreement. Our intent is to purchase land and build a
place that we may call home. Promise Land is a vision and not a person, and
while we may have been shaken we have not been uprooted.

TIME TO MAKE A DECISION
The Bible is my favorite book it is our Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. By
it we are taught that man is eternal and will live forever either in Heaven or Hell.
The state we die in is the state we will be judged in, if we die in sin we will be
judged as a sinner, but if we die having accepted JESUS as our savior we will be
judged as a saint. The Bible uses many illustrations to teach what happens when
we choose to let JESUS be LORD of our lives. It begins with the confession of
faith, we confess with our mouth the LORD JESUS, and believe in our heart that
GOD hath raised HIM from the dead, and we are saved. This process is then
acted out in Baptism based on our faith in CHRIST (Colossians 2:12). Our old evil
nature dies (crucified); Which enables us to receive a new life (buried); That new
life joins us to the nature of CHRIST’S life (resurrected).
Spreading the good news of JESUS CHRIST and making known the simplicity of
salvation is my only mission. I trust that if you have not accepted JESUS as your
savior, that you will make the correct decision allowing JESUS to be your LORD
and savior. In doing so you will be “BORN AGAIN”. So I rejoice with you now that
you are saved. Whenever I speak of being “SAVED” or “BORN AGAIN”, I’m
essentially speaking about the same thing. A person is saved when he “TURNS”
from sin to GOD (repentance), receives JESUS into his or her heart by faith, and
is changed in his or her heart by the SPIRIT of GOD (new birth). There are two
questions that may arise from this challenge, (1) What are we saved from? In this
life we are saved from the bondage of sin and the destruction, guilt and absence
of purpose it brings to our lives, and in the life to come we are saved from the
wrath of GOD and the eternal fires of HELL. (2) What are we saved to? You are
born into an abundant life in the family of GOD as a child of GOD. You now have
access to all the benefits that flow from your FATHER GOD to HIS children-
righteousness, peace, joy, healing and provisions for every need. But most
important of all you are saved to eternal life with GOD forever in heaven after
your life here on earth ends.
This is a simple overview not of me but of GOD, I am a lowly servant and though I
may have many accomplishments, they are not worthy to be mentioned. There is
therefore nothing greater in life that I can offer anyone than the gift of salvation in
which I am called to preach. Will you accept this FREE GIFT?
Trusting that you have made the correct decision, you now have a desire to grow
closer to CHRIST. The next thing you must do is attach yourself to a Church of
your choice. If you have a problem doing so please contact me that I may assist
